Our departure for the Uros and Taquile Islands Tour begins at 7:30 am from your hotel. Then, we will go by private transportation to the main dock or port. At 7:45 am, we start the trip to the floating islands of the Uros. Currently considered the National Reserve of Lake Titicaca – also known as the highest navigable lake in the world. During the trip, you will be able to observe a beautiful panoramic view and landscape. Also, our expert guide will inform you about the existence of the floating islands of the Uros.

Today, the Uros people still maintain their own culture and tradition. For example, as well as artisanal fishing, especially the (CARACHI) and the silverside. Consequently, when fishing is abundant, the fish is kept dry in the sun. They also hunt wild birds and collect duck eggs. In the same way, 75 islands live today, and each of them is well organized. After a long and beautiful visit, we will say goodbye to the Uros. Our next visit will be to the natural island of TAQUILE.

THE NATURAL ISLAND OF TAQUILE
First of all, to get to our next visit in our tour to the Uros Taquile islands, we will navigate by boat for 2 hours and a half, to the natural island of Taquile. During the navigation, you will be able to observe the mountain range (the royal mountain range). The people of Taquile are very cooperative and well organized. For this reason, the Taquileños have demonstrated their high degree of advancement in Textiles, receiving their award from UNESCO. It should be noted that spinning and weaving are mainly done by men. Women only do spinning and weaving.

Certainly, life in Taquile is still largely alien to modernity. The visit will have an average duration of 2 hours, and in 1 hour you will be able to taste a delicious typical lunch. Also, if you want to support and be part of this community, you can collaborate voluntarily by buying some of their handicrafts. In this way, doing so allows this community some means of sustainability, and in this way, they can continue to share their culture and existence in the times to come. Finally, we will continue our way to the city of Puno, arriving at 17:00 hours.

Travel Guide

Uros and Taquile Islands are two popular tourist destinations located on Lake Titicaca in Peru.

Uros Islands are a group of around 70 man-made floating islands made of totora reeds, located near Puno in southeastern Peru. The Uros people have lived on these islands for centuries and continue to maintain their traditional way of life, fishing and weaving textiles. Visitors to Uros Islands can take a boat tour to see the floating islands, learn about the Uros culture and history, and even ride in a traditional totora reed boat.

Taquile Island, located about 45 kilometers east of Puno, is a larger, more developed island with a population of around 2,000 people. The Taquileños are known for their high-quality textiles, which are made using traditional techniques and designs. Visitors to Taquile Island can take a boat tour from Puno, hike to the top of the island for stunning views of Lake Titicaca, and visit the local artisan workshops to see the weaving process and purchase handmade textiles.

Both Uros and Taquile Islands offer a unique glimpse into the traditional cultures of Peru and the indigenous communities that have called the Lake Titicaca region home for centuries.
