Salkantay Trek 5 Days 4 nights
Salkantay trek 5 days to Machu Picchu is the second most popular trek to reach the iconic city of Machu Picchu; an alternative to the classic Inca Trail, very crowded. It offers adventure, mountains, scenery and a greater variety of landscapes, from rainforest to snow-capped peaks. As the Salkantay has fewer restrictions than the classic Inca Trail, it can be a “back door” to Machu Picchu when tickets for the classic Inca Trail are sold out. Edicion ultima prueba

DAY 1: Cusco – Humantay Lake – Salkantaypampa
We will pick you up at your hotel around 05:00 am for your 5 day Salkantay trek. We will proceed to drive about 3 hours to Anta – Mollepata. During the bus ride, you will be able to observe the white snow-capped mountains of Salkantay and Veronica: the Sacred Gods of the Incas. Also, you will glimpse the spectacular views of the high and low valleys with colorful landscapes. After 3 and a half hours of travel, we will make our first stop in the village of Soraypampa (starting point of our trek), where there are toilets and breakfast prepared by our chef. There we will meet with our support staff, organize all the equipment, horses and mules and have an introductory meeting.
At approximately 9:00 a.m. we will begin our trek to Humantay Lake (4200 m / 13779 ft). The first part of the trail is flat and then uphill to the lake. We will explore it for about 30 minutes and then return to Soraypampa where we will have lunch. After lunch, we will continue hiking up to Salkantaypampa (4150 m / 13615 ft). Salkantaypampa is located in the middle of the glacial valleys where at night it is so dark with no ambient light making it a perfect place to appreciate the constellations in the sky.
