We start the tour of Qeswachaka with the pick up from your hotel in the morning. Soon, through the province of Acomayo we will stop and visit the different lakes. Travel Guide

The Inca bridge of Q’eswachaka in Cusco, 33 m long and 1.2 m wide, is located over the Apurimac River at 3,700 meters above sea level. It is renewed every year for 4 days during the month of June, where the bridge structures are replaced by a new one. The bridge is located 110 km southeast of Cusco.

It is part of the Inca trail and is made of vegetable fiber or straw, maintaining the tradition of peasant techniques and community work system to maintain it to this day.

Q’eswachaka is the last bridge of its kind and is almost in its original state, it has been maintained from generation to generation for more than five centuries by the communities: Huinchiri, Chaupibanda, Ccollana Quehue and Pelcaro.

The new bridge structure is woven with ancestral techniques for three days by some 1,000 community members using braided ichu and chachacomo straw, while ritual ceremonies and dances are performed by the inhabitants of the ayllus of the area.
